About two weeks ago I went into Walmart looking for a replacement for a couple of my Schrade Beasts that I have in my gun bag, tackle box etc. After returning a number of Gerbers (Fast Draw, Paraframe I, II, Mini,) and BUCK RUSH I tried the Kershaw line of Knives. Here are my humble non-expert opinions of some of the assisted opening mechanism available. I am def. hooked on knives and want to try some spydercos and benchmade knives.

The FAST Draw Gerber was the slowest to open and the blade release on made a horrible grinding noise nice finish to the blade but, after reading about Gerber quality and design plagerism it went back to the store. I was sad because years ago I loved my Gerber GATOR.

The Buck RUSH opened much faster than the Gerber, it had a lot of play in the blade when closed. I then read about the controversy about the ASAP opening system being a copy of the Ken Onion Speed safe system. Back to Wally world it went.

The first Kershaw I purchased was the Blur Tactical, WOW!!!, fast, tight, and excellent blade. I then returned to wally world and bought the Leek, Scallion, Chive, Vapor, ACE 1710, and went to Gander Mountain and bought a Whirlwind. I have been so pleased with the Kershaw/Onion Speed Safe opening mechanism and the design of the Onion blades/Knives. Thank you Ken and Kershaw!!

My new collection has a: Blur Tactical Serrated
Whirlwind Plain Blade
Leek Serrated
Scallion
Chive
Vapor
Ace 1710

Leatherman Wave
Schrade Old Timer Beast
Schrade Old Timer three blade pocket knife
Imperial Black Ireland made keychain knife

I am hooked all the Kershaws were bought within a ONE!!! week period. Crack has nothing on knife collecting.

Which is cool, but not as cool as the Random Leek (S30V) already out.

You really jumped on the Kershaw ship, but I was surprised to see none of my Kershaw favorites represented. If you're still looking for some Kershaws, I would highly recommend the Mini Mojo, Spec Bump and Blue/Green bump. Of course, the original Bumps cost quite a bit.

Interesting comparison...gerber and buck just don't seem to make many designs that interest me right now.
