ASH-1 or HELLRAZOR

Personal preference IMO. Both are fantastic and I'd take either. I think the HR might be better as a regular camp or duty blade. Ligher to carry, comfortable in the hand, can handle any task and will wear you out before you wear it out. Thick ASH blades are cool but in reality, I think there needs to be a reasonable ratio of overall blade size-to- thickness that make sense in it's intended use.

I picked up a HR but after receiving it,it is to much of a fighter style and was a awesome blade but I prefer something different so I traded it for another Busse. If you can swing the $ pick both up and fondle them both and keep 'em or sell the one you do not prefer.....

Choose the right tool for the job.

The Hell Razor is suited more for a fighting knife while the ASH-1 is a utility/all around knife. IMHO.

However when push comes to shove I would go for .........ASH1 It gets more things done!!

MASS!!!!

I am in the market for my first infi, and was trying to decide between these two as well.
I am leaning toward the HR as well, not really looking for a chopper atm.

The CG ASH will be cheaper, plus it really isn't a chopper. Can be used as one to some degree, but it has a great many all around usages. You can always get one, and sell it here on the exchange if you don't like it or if it doesn't suit you... :)

I'd like to modify my answer after watching hte Knifetests of the FFBM.

ASH1 without question. Only blade possibly better would be a sabre-ground SFNO. But on the choices given, ASH1. It'll do the fine work and whump the heck outta everything in the room.

Thanks for the comparison photos (not talking about the body builders). I went on impulse and instead of a HR or ASH-1 I'm getting two AK's. Found a good deal on a black/black aluminum handled one and just recently committed to buy a black/black micarta handled one. I've always wanted one but could never coordinate or justify the funds with the opportunities in the exchange. That and I was usually too slow to reply to for sale threads. Now they just seem to be springing up everywhere and I had to get one! Of course, once I had one on the way I had to get another (Anyone else have this problem?). May have to get the HR and ASH-1 on the exchange sometime soon (gotta get some Black and Tan). Of course depending on when the next Ganza will be that may change things a bit. Any way, thanks guys.

that right there is a good hog's choice :D

"you know... I was going back and forth between the leaner meaner street, and one of the thinner game wardens, but after a bit of thought I just bought a moab."

I still wanna get an ak47 and make a one handed long knife, meant to be even more a machete then the ruck kensai. I'd love to do something with a general use 7" blade as well.

ASH-1 is beyond a doubt, the best knife ever made. In my visual scanning capacity/experience. I know, I know.

I have a nice late 60s era hand made Randall, several early Puma's, Kinfolks, Shrade autos yudda, yudda. My attraction to the ASH-1 is that it is perfection. Its balanced, its functional, its attractive to my eye, my conception of what the best knife ever made should look like, its robust and sturdy, each line has been well thought out.

5/16" heavy? Yes it is. A nice camp knife? Not really. What would I use a ASH-1 "camp knife" for that my axe, cheap utility knife blade folder, or Chinese made machete couldnt do when camping in the "wilderness"?

They cost me about $28 bucks.

This is a knife that goes in my "grab n go" kit, and 5 years from now they will be selling for a grand on epay/pay ponzi. My three cents anyway. (adjusted for inflation) Do not mean to step on anyones toes, just my observations. Best wishes.
