And it did!! Question about BIG finish - is it safe to assume that it will be less rust resistant than Combat Grade Coated finish? Anything to worry about?
 
A coating will always provide a great level of protection to a blade BUT one of the true advantages of INFI stell is its corrosion resistance. I would have no issue at all with an uncoated balde. My eye likes the LOOK of the coated finishs but my favourite was always the comp finish. BIG is as close to that as I will get in an ASH1 I suspect..!

I agree.

Unless a knife is intended to be kept pristine (like for display), the part that matters most concerning rust is the edge, and of course the edge is uncoated on all models and therefore susceptible to corrosion.

I remember years ago a Bladeforums member (I think it was Marc from Busse) used a Basic 7 as a dive knife, so it was subjected to highly corrosive salt water. I don't remember, but I'm guessing he kept the edge coated with grease or something else to help prevent rust.

With even slight reasonable care (like cleaning and then wiping dry a blade after use), I have had no problems with rust on uncoated INFI.
 
Frankly I think the BIG finish just begs to be used. This will be is a scotch-brites best buddy!!!

..... yeah, I will be in the air or just landing when the Go gets posted... I am not even sure they have electric lights where I am working for the next week...far less a modern phenomenon as the internet....
