ASH - Skinny or CG?

I've had all three (CG, LE, and Skinny), and my go-to, user ASH is a Skinny.

With the convex grind it feels more blade-weighted than the LE, which I like better. It's tough as nails and doesn't drag my britches down. The CG is an awesome knife and it feels great to hold that much INFI in a relatively smallish knife, but for a working knife, it's the Skinny all the way.

I have owned an SE 2007, an LE, and a HOG. Tony G sent me a Skinny to handle and try out.

The Skinny was nice, but the LE is my favorite of the bunch. I sold the SE, and never did pick up a Skinny.

And of course, I still have the HOG ASH...

I love the skinny. I can't even imagine a better 6.5" camp knife.
I had an LE and sold it in a moment of weakness;). It was VERY nice but just wouldn't chop like the skinny.
Never handled a CG. Would like one of the DC ones someday!

Yeah, what MikeH said...:D

The Skinny will get the job done. Compared to non-Busse knives it is still plenty big. Depsite what some here will tell you, "yes" it will indeed chop when you need it to - perhaps needing a little more effort, but it will chop.

A 0.22 is really great also if you can find one for a reasonable price. I wouldn't include an LE/SE in that category as they tend to run quite a bit more. But if you have the dough, they are gorgeous blades.

P.S. MikeH - I'm waiting for Spark to change my username to avoid anymore confusion.

It really doesn't bother me. My GBU posting was when I first noticed you here, and just didn't want anyone thinking I was the one doing the selling. From what I have seen of you so far on these forums, any of your feedback that got mistakenly assigned to me could only benefit me, anyway.

Skinny is more of a "beater", LE is is nicer...
both are great. the cg is too heavy for me.
(I always grab the skinny when I go "out")
I feel the skinny is tougher due the convex grind.

Well, I haven't handled an LE, but I have a CG and two Skinny's. I guess the fact that I have two of the Skinny version kind of answers the question for me. Unless you need the weight of the CG for some serious chopping, the Skinny will handle anything you throw at it beautifully. It's not like you're gonna break the thing. My first Skinny was my first Busse that I really used hard ... harder than I'd ever have imagined using a $400+ knife. I split firewood by batoning it with a 2X4 with no fear that it would fail me. So my vote is for the Skinny.
