ASH Whacker Lineage

I took the 9.5 out today and I am very, very impressed. I did not do much on hard wood but just hacked up some 2 - 3 inch branches from some yard work I did recently.

It is short enough for great control, long enough for good reach and speed, light enough for good accuracy, speed and control and it bites very deep. I did not work with it long enough for extended use impressions because I was rotating through many knives, but I think this knife might become one of my favorite light choppers.

I can't believe that you used it! I would not have been able to bring myself to use it. I really like the idea to release combat grade versions at the company store. That is an awesome set you have there.

Tim, I have to ask, are you 100% sure it is 9.5"? I thought there was only 3 offerings,a 6.5", a 7.5", and an 8.5". I didn't recall there being a 9.5"

Then again, I was hungover a little every day :D

And I REALLY hope those become regular runs, if that's the case, I'm getting the biggest version offered because they're just so damn awesome :D

She was in some esteemed company: NMFBMLE, FBMLE, BWM CF, B11, SAR 8, NMSFNO, DSSF, SARSquatch CF, Benchmade 171, BK9, Browning Crowell/Barker.

I am very glad that I used her because the result was totally unexpected. I found her to be the most efficient of all the Bussekin for the soft non-dry wood I cut today and she was my favorite of the Bussekin after a few rotations. I had not yet softened the ridges around the tubes on the handles so they did annoy my finger but that will be fixed tomorrow because I am in love with this blade and I think there is a chance that she might become my favorite Bussekin backpacking blade. I am not conclusive on that yet, I need to use her on some hard substantial stuff first, but so far she seems to be one of those rare ones that just seems to perform well above its size /weight, like the B11, NMSFNO & Chopweiler.

You just chased me out of bed watching Dual Survival to run downstairs to the garage to get my tape measure and measure her. :D I was worried that I was making a fool of myself here. The blade is exactly 9.5 from the handle to the tip.

Here is Jerry's original post:

You...are...welcome :D

It's okay, $50 says it's a re-run :D

Damn, 9.5"? I don't remember there being 4 offerings of the Ash Whacker. Piss, now I'm starting to wonder if I gave Eric the 8.5" or the 9.5" tag

Yup, I owe you for this one. Thanks again.

If it helps, all I know about the tag is when I asked Eric he said he had given it away. Then he went and got it back. She was just meant to be mine I guess. :D

I might go to Ft. Wayne next month and have Mike make a sheath for me. Hopefully I can catch up with Eric.

If you go up to Ft. Wayne let me know. I'll meet you up there and check out the knife I wish I kept :o

Dammit! If I knew it was a 9.5 I would have held on to it!

I call first dibs if you want to ever sell it :D

I just remembered this this pic that I took a few days back. It shows some of her family & friends that she had fun with yesterday and her length relative to the M9LE & FBMLE (10.25").
