ASH1 CG Wild

Just received a CG ASH1 (green) last week after just owning the skinny ASH - I am in love.

I never thought a fatty like this could feel so good in my hand and be so well balanced. I almost prefer it over my skinny ASH but not sure how friendly it would be on my belt for extended hikes.... Any of you guys hike with your CG or is it more of a camp blade?

With that said I did get a sweet Okuden drop leg sheath with it so I am sure that this will help - plus a very strong belt!

Ran the factory edge over my sharpmaker and then my strop and it is hair-popping. I dont think this one will be convexed like my skinny.

Cant wait to break it in next weekend!

The CG is my hiking knife on my belt. It is my user. It also gets tossed in a pack sometimes. Either way if I travel so does my CG:)

Both are super sharp, not convexed I just thinned out the factory edge a little on stones then stropped a little, they cut paper like crazy and shave like crazy, I love the CG ASH-1's. I have two and they are keepers.

My CG Ash1 also got an edge treatment. I kept the angle steeper than some of my other knives. Hair popping, newsprint pushcutting sharp. I may take it back to a leaner angle in the future. I did mine by hand with sand paper/mousepad, then stropped.

I have a 1x30 belt sander, but it has never touched any infi. It may not ever, honestly. I have only done two knives so far, one I made. It gave a lightning sharp edge so easily, but I think I made the tip a bit to hot on m home made knife and I rounded the tip on another a bit. So for now, sand paper only for my Infi.

When I hike with it, I usually put it on the pack, on the hip belt.

I actually took my FBMLE back to to clear that log off the trail, but some one got to it first.

Bigfattyt - Just FYI I am not suggesting that people take their INFI to the belt sander or that they thin them down this much. Just sharing my little episode. It was when it cut with complete silence that it was a little eerie:)

t--- Did you darken the Brown handle?

brown shoe polish. It is worn mostly off now, but the handle is still a bit darker than it was. The pattern comes out a bit better in person now.

I am tempted to re hit it with the polish.

I was not knocking using the belt sander on my infi, I was just saying I don't have the skills yet. When I get the skills, I still don't have any other infi that has not been convexed, so even then it will be a while till I get another.

I know you were not knocking:) I am a little though. I would not suggest it actually, unless you have a good feel for it:)

Even though your blades are already convexed, so were mine. I just brought out the best in it this time:thumbup:

Your a cool dude, I know where you are coming from.

Man, those ASH'es sure are nice... and knowing there's a Bama Clay skinny out there for sale...

I need a new job.
