Hey Hogs,

I have this ASH1 picked up over a year ago.

I know a little bit about ASH1s Offerings

I know all came 6.5 blade length:

CG =. 32 offered in coated or DC
HOG = coated Muddy. 32 initialed
Skinny =. 19 coated
LE =. 225 satin tiger hide
Special Edition 2007: . 22 double cut bead blasted engraved with "2007 SPECIAL EDITION

This seems to be a satin. . 19 or. 22 range but curious as to if anyone knows.

Were they originally offered satin SKINNY
in this configuration pictured or would this be a custom?

Looks to be FHFG skinny Satin G10 MAG Handles. If it's not as I described it please correct me. It's my (favourite and First) Baby.

Was this standard offering?

Thanks Hogs / BF.

Original listing ( not much description at all)
*Busse combat w Sheathe*

Ok ok. 5.58 mm = .22 inches. Definitely not a Skinny. I'd think a custom would have the CS logo, but could be requested this way I think. SE 2007 would have the engraving along the top of the flat grind, IIRC. All I got.

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well,

Custom? Doesn't have custom shop logo ( might have been requested left out)

Skinny - too thicc for a skinny and I don't think they came in Satin finish

2007 special? - is in the thiccness range but no 2007 special edition engraving

LE - wrong handles to be an LE and it is not numbered ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Could be a LE blank that they had in the shop. Was finished and sold at one of the shows back in the day.
Maybe maybe ๐Ÿค” I was thinking either sold at a show as a left over or a custom. But most customs say custom ๐Ÿค” unless asked otherwise.

Might be a case of contacting the first (last) owner and asking him if he got it from a show or direct from Busse ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

Either way itโ€™s a great knife. I like the handles in the green blade. In the video they look like non magnum handles.
Maybe our resident ASH 1 experts will chime in ?????
tuica tuica
Andy the Aussie Andy the Aussie

The shows always offered some crazy INFI / sr101 treasure finds

Yeah the Fat. 32 in green with flat handles is nice for sure. They all are ๐Ÿป

If Tuica and Andy might have some insight, if they don't know no one will ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค” maybe boss man hog himself might recall

JayMT JayMT , beautiful collection.

Can you tell me about your Ratweilier there ( the thickness, etc ), and how does that feel as a used compared the the ASH1 vs the Battle Mistress?

Also what does ASH stand for? What is the approx value of the ASH CG in sr101? Sorry to high jack your thread. appreciate your feed back there.

Thanks
Luke

Sometimes Busse has extra blanks from a run. They will not make more LE's with serial #'s once they pull the pre order for it, but why waste good steel? So, they use extras in different ways. Yours is an LE blank thickness ASH-1 with different handles & standard logo. Basically a knife show piece, probably for Blade Show or one of the Travelling Trough shows, or a Knob Creek show back in the day. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

That almost certainly would have been an LE blank but not a standard offering, probably a random show or ganza offering. Boy those BG ASH-1's are cool, subtle differences in shape and handle it seems make them spot on.
Yeah I think you're right on the money aiming towards a #LE. 22 blank satin finish black g10 Magnum handles - either a show or ganza 1 of 1 offering. I've emailed the previous owner to see if they bought it from a show or another private individual they said they were the only owner and it had sat in their office in a sheathe for over 10 years. Never used.

They were so vague with the BF post description they just listed it as "Busse combat w/ sheathe as they didn't even know the exact specs ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿป

Yeah Jaxx again very much spot on LE blank diff handles trade show piece 95%. Guess I don't have to chase an LE or SE Edition now. I'm covered on BG - CG - HOG - Satin LE - SE or so I can tell myself.

If anyone know who originally owns that HOG engraved "HOG Slinger" that would be neat, although I think "Hog Slicer" would've been cooler ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž IMO.

The Ratweiler (mega) compared to an ASH1 and Battle mistress that's a fun question.

Mega still available in shop

You have the ASH1s varying at
. 19 to. 32 thickness all 6.5" blade length.

All ASH1s are Infi steel outside of Battle grade Sr101 release as Elof said above.

Mega ratweiler is a whopping!! . 35" thickness with rounded spine and pummel at 8" blade length (7.5" cutting edge with choil)

Personally I have a stripped ASHBM ( Anniversary Straight handle battle mistress) which is. 312" thick with a 11" blade 10" and change cutting edge (with choil)

The Mega Rat is actually the heaviest of the 3 models. All perform well. The Fat. 32 ASH1 HOG or CG edition will out chop a skinny/LE/SE out of thicker blade stock but none will fail you.

The Mega ratweiler (Sr101) is a Monster I use it the most, I hammer it and baton it and it's indestructible.

The Mega ratweiler reminds me alot of the HOG Fusion steel heart, much like the one on the exchange right now.

Both 14" Overall Length
Both 8" Blade length
Both have curved Ergo shaped handles.
Differences being Price, petigry and preference.
MEGA RAT. 35 AND HOG FSH. 312.
Sr101 vs INFI

So at this moment in time with a Mega Ratweiler bought direct from Busse today. Over an ASH1 on eBay $$$$ or ASHBM $$$$ ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€ (IMHO) for chopping and going HAM.

You get alot of knife for a good price.

Although the ASHBM or any mistress will out chop a Mega Rat or ASH1 anyday.

Comes down to what you're going to do with it.
The saying goes A Big knife can do almost anything a small knife can but a small knife can't do everything a big knife can so get both.
