Very cool no matter how many times I see it just watching hot steel get worked into various implements always looks cool . I HAVE to go to this next year. Seems like it's a good time.

Hey Zaph1,
What was so disturbing about the JS blade test? It WAS a nice
knife, but it was made to be destroyed. Sometimes to figure
out what you've done or what you're doing, you have to break
something. I've done this test 3 times, and passed all 3.
Bill:)

Just giving some color to the comments. It's kinda like building a dog house just so I can test a 30g firecracker(not enough, just blows out the back wall). I enjoy building a good doghouse, but blowing them up is much more fun.

Many years back, a work colleague ( a young woman at the time) was going to the airport to pick up her old college roommate. Her former roomie had this joke she would always make about being the National Tonsil Hockey Champion. I made up a sign and hung it from the back bumper of the car. It said. " Welcome AXXXXX Hxxxxx, National Tonsil Hockey Champion". When they came back from the airport, they both commented that all the way along the interstate, people had been honking at them. I showed them the sign (which I had assumed would be spotted by them when they put the luggage in the trunk). They both got hysterical and said, "Oh, That explains why all the guys were waving."

Matt, I did look around for you, but didn't find you there. I was rather disappointed. Given your proximity, I was hoping to bum a ride from you, hehehe. Seriously, though, I think that as a newbie I probably learned more than those who have been making knives for years. I really look forward to bringing my son to it next year.
