What...No Gary with his camera????
We'll miss you pal. Your photo documentary of the weekend is always a real joy to look at a few weeks after all the sparks die out.

It's always a nice weekend get away, deep in the woods of upstate NY, it would be quite a drive from Minnesota I'm afraid, but something to consider one year. I'm not sure if next year will be a "Sword" year as they try to do that every 5 years, but it should be soon.

And thanks Stacy, I do enjoy taking photos to record the weekends as best I can.

Just a reminder, after Sept 1st, if you sign up it'll cost a little bit extra, so if you are on the fence, you need to jump down before then to get your registration in now.

I'd love to go but I already have tickets to the AMA Superbike races in NJ that weekend.

Looks like a blast. How much hands-on knifemaking is there for the attendees? Or is it a lot of just watching demos and lectures?

Oh Yeah, there is hands on all weekend.

The forges are open Friday and Saturday after the last evening class until ....well......, sometimes all night long. The old guys get right in there with the novices and trade techniques, tips, and methods.

There are little groups that "pop-up" everywhere where you can pick up a knife made by a legendary maker and talk with him about how he did it.

Saturday night there is a cigar, BBQ, cheese, and chatting session up at the Pavilion that accompanies the open forging. A lot of info gets passed around along with fun and snacks. Don Agee and I host that.

You are only limited by your ability to get around to it all and the degree of sleep deprivation you can tolerate. At breakfast Sunday morning some of the folks look really grim.

A bunch of us take photos. Sometime in the first day Page or I usually start a thread with Ashokan photos, and folks post their favorite ones throughout the weekend. After the weekend, several good threads with edited and cropped shots pop up, as well as links to the home pages of folks with dozens of good photos..

Nice Sam, bringing your scooter this year? or at least your whip? :)

I'm going to miss this year too. Donna and I just got back from three weeks in the UK and Iceland so I'll be spending September catching up at work and such.
