ASHOKAN - Its Finally Here

PLEASE READ THE NEW THREAD

THERE WILL BE NO ALCOHOL THIS YEAR !

Word just came to me from Kevin. I will not be bringing any single malts. Instead, I suggest we have a cigar fest Saturday evening and sit out in the field smokin' fine Cuban, Virgin island, South/Central American and Domestic cigars. I'll bring some Perodi cigars for Sam.
In addition, we should all have our sweeties bake brownies and cookies to pass around while tokin' the 'gars.

Here is the post from the other threads:
THIS IS SOMETHING IMPORTANT FOR ALL GOING TO ASHOKAN NEXT MONTH

Tim Neu has been running things for the past years, and he let us get away with a lot that was not in the rule book.
He no longer is there, and the new folks are going to enforce the rules.
With the new facilities in progress they are going to nip any future problems in the bud now.
Our observance of the rules will help us be able to continue the Ashokan Seminar.

NO ALCOHOL
In the past we have enjoyed a quiet drink with friends, but some have abused the wink/nod and it got out of hand in the forge area.
This year NO ALCOHOL is allowed. Unlike Sam's dates, NO means NO this time . If you bring it and get caught, you will leave...and we may loose our best seminar.
Conduct in the forge area must be contained, also, and safe forging and such observed. Horseplay can be taken to the foot bridge.

Lets all respect the rules of our host.

And there I was wishing they'd be banning cigars as well. Are gas masks welcome?

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have written that.

But it doesn't change the fact that cigars and breathing do not go together for me.

So, what is the problem...give up breathing :).

Seroiusly, any such smoke fest should be up-wind and out in the field where others who don't want the smoke will not have to walk through it.
Your point is well taken that everyone does not enjoy a good cigar.

Well that just figures, the year that I can finally make it back to Ashokan is the year they decide to outlaw booze. Although... I didn't see anything in the rulebook about hookers or hard drugs! Game on! :D

But maybe people can convince Spike Mangler to show up =D

Ah well, too bad about not being able to do a scotch tasting, but we'll live >_< I'm waaayy looking forward to ashokan, and it's not that long away now!

Gettin' closer every day!

With all the flooding going on recently, I emailed to the Ashokan Center to get an update on their situation
and received this reply right away from Miss Nance Gross;

Hello, Gary!
We are fine-- except that our phones are out.
We are looking forward to having you all here this weekend.
Please spread the word to all you can!

Sincerely,
Nance
