Reason for my post: Last Saturday @Packerrat chose not to do business with me on his 4V Light Chopper. He was well within his rights to do so and I am not upset at him whatsoever. I am trying to alleviate what he said his concerns were and what I can only assume some of your concerns would be If you were to deal with me as well.

I’ll start by saying that I understand that this is probably not the right place for this thread, however, you the people of the CPK subforum are really the only ones I need to read this. If @Nathan the Machinist or @Lorien decide to take this down I will understand and not complain.

My name is Jeremy. I am from South Mississippi and I am a high school baseball coach and recently on Sep 8th I became a father for the first time at the age of 39. As someone who teaches and coaches people’s kids I tend to rarely (read almost never) post on anything. I have twitter, facebook, and I am a member on this forum for the past couple of years. I love reading up on many of your posts as I do the baseball writers and coaches I follow on twitter. From JustinFournier JustinFournier and all his writing at the beginning of this subforum to @Lorien and the pictures and writings he posts. betzner betzner and his exquisite knives he collects and Nathans thoroughness in his explanations for why he does exactly what he does with each of his knives. I often like many of your posts, but my only posts are usually in the form of I’ll take it or some derivative. I haven’t traded any knives because I honestly don’t own any I want to trade. I have a few of my early purchases from Busse before I really knew what I liked that I might get rid of someday, and I hope to have a few extra CPK knives to help trade for some of the harder to get of Nathans offerings like the aforementioned 4vLC, Heavy Chopper, Behemoth Chopper or Skinner. I know many of you dislike eBay and that is fine but my name on there is rookies1 and I have perfect feedback mostly from buying as well. I want to stress that If I say I will buy something I do. And I am trying to find the people that I have purchased from on here and have them give me feedback for my purchases as well (this was suggested to me by Packerrat).

I came to enjoy knives after attending Blade Show 2015 with my cousin. Soon after that I found Blade Forums while visiting the Busse website. While here I stumbled across a thread by Nathan the Machinist in late December early January where he was testing a lightweight chopper. This intrigued me, because up until this point I was only semi-familiar with Busseand their heavyish choppers. Chopping outside behind my home is something I do as a stress reliever during the season or to just spend time outside. After several tries I was able to land one of Nathans D3V LC in the spring of 2016. Once I was able feel and use it I was hooked and wanted to try more of Nathans knives. My cousin also loved it, and since he has an allergy to technology he asked me to try and get him one for his swat rig. When this process took too long for him, because Nathan’s popularity began to grow and my keyboarding skills did not, I gave him mine and continued to try and replace it. When Nathan offered the preorder for the LC I was ecstatic because I knew this was probably the only way I would be able to purchase directly from Nathan. Things rolled on along and at the 2016 Blade Show I was able to pick up a Shiv for my cousin and when I did I knew immediately I wanted one also. Most all of you know how hard these are to come by, and when I found someone willing to part with theirs I snapped it up. This led to me to the Field Knife Preorder and then I was able to acquire a Utility Fighter to which I had to tell my cousin No because I was certain I wouldn’t be able to replace it. During the 2017 Blade Show my cousin picked me up one of Nathan 4V EDC. abbydaddy abbydaddy proxied for me on the D2 Nask which I am very grateful for and Love this knife its very close to LC in my opinion as the best knife. I look forward to my preordered Naskin D3V and also my EDC 2 along with any future offering my Nathan.

While I am writing I would also like to thank @Jo the Machinist for her ease in emailing back and forth on the orders as well as answering any questions that we may have.

Here is a list of the people I have purchased from. If any of you will please leave me feedback I would greatly appreciate it.

Jeremy, thank you for taking the time to introduce yourself and also to share more than necessary information about yourself (something which I would not have done on a public forum, but I do understand the impetus behind your rationale). I think that this will definitely help you out in the future in case you should encounter a situation like last Saturday's which I would call an anomaly outside of this tightly knit group here on CPK subform.

While I do not speak for Packerrat, I can disclose that he and I have had quite a few private messages in the last couple of months and I even attempted to proxy for him during one HDFK Friday sale, which I failed miserably at and sadly failed Packerrart. Our BFC acquaintance started on general questions about another maker here on BFC and our common passion / interests over Nathan's knives. I can definitively tell you that Packerrat had agonized and struggled over his LC-4V from the time when he received it because he really wanted a user LC-D3V but had acquired the LC-4V through a generous person's proxy for Packerrat, because this last batch of the LCs in 4V were it and the LC pattern has since been put to retirement. In the final analysis he just found the LC-4V too exquisite and too beautiful for his intended purpose of hard use, tried to trade for an LC in D3V but I guess nothing too equitable came up. In fact if I had not managed to score an LC-4V during that Friday's sale, I would've jumped all over his as the intention to part with it came to my attention before it was even originally put up for sale or for trade. I was even tempted to be greedy and grab it anyway, but decided that it best went to someone else more in need of one.

Knowing as to how much angst it caused him to part with it and how agonizing it was, lest forgetting that he actually lost a bit on that purchase as let it go for his actual original cost (meaning he ate the PP & postage fees to deliver to the new owner), I sided with him to ease the additional mental anguish by selling to someone whom on paper he felt more comfortable dealing with. Coming back full circle to how I started this post, I think that your further introduction will definitely aid you to establish some subforum capital on here and I would like to congratulate you on an impressive array of CPKs which you have manage to collect despite your penchant for staying under the radar. Nice to get to know you better :)

JustinFournier JustinFournier no I have a d3v LC. I am just trying to not lose out on an opportunity like I did Saturday by not having enough feedback or posting presence on the forum. I would always take help scoring a 4v LC or HC but I really just wanted this up so anyone else who was hesitant in the future to sale to me might have their fears alleviated somewhat.

BTW, if that Shiv you scored from WTLJ is the cerakoted one from a while back, someone on here may be very interested to do some horse-tarding with you. I'm just going to leave it at that ;)

It is the cerakoted one but I am afraid I have began to really like it and as collector of sports memorabilia I have an OCD need to try and and acquire one of each kind of Nathan's knives. So I don't see parting with it. I also believe with the birth of my first son I am going to try and pass these all on to him.

Well, if you do decide to part with the Cerakote, I can always use another one, lol.

You won't have any problem trading or buying/selling with me, Jeremy.

Bob

Never had a problem selling to a person who did not have Feedback:thumbsup:As long as the money was obtained via PP or Money Order before I Shipped the Knife! Everybody on this forum started with a Zero in their trading stats:p Keep in Mind Nathan and Dan Make (Produce) knives, they are not selling you a knife that they bought and have elected to re-sell! Consequently they do not normally provide feedback! Also keep in mind some people just don't provide feedback's! The other individuals could have (if they so desired) provided a feedback to you! Hope this helps!

I really don't know how to do the feedback thing here on Bladeforums unless it is done from a sales thread, and very few of my purchases have been through a formal sales thread. So I also don't have much of a feedback rating myself.

But for what it is worth, my interactions with Dirtbags00 Dirtbags00 have been all positive. We have corresponded fairly extensively in pms. I did (kinda)proxy for him on the HDFK (I got to review before I sent it off to him, thanks for that man). I also attempted, unsuccessfully, to proxy for him on the Behemoth Chopper. And when I tried (and didn't quite make it) for one of the 4V LCs, that was as a part of a plan to trade with Dirtbags for a D3V afterward.

So what I am saying, is that even though I have only really managed to have one concrete transaction with Dirtbags, I have had more extensive interaction with him and it has all been for the good. It just hasn't been really public, and not the kind of thing that shows up on a feedback score.

^ FYI, some folks who are unable to leave feedback for their "trading partner" (a general term used whether buying, selling or actually trading) use the GBU (the Good, Bad and Ugly) subforum to praise or to warn others about the person.

This practice is normally used only after the Buyer and seller cannot agree on solution to a problem! For instance they Seller stated New and Unused and you receive the knife and it has scratches, Dings, etc and did not arrive to you as described, or your purchase did not arrive period! I believe everybody who purchases a knife can leave a feedback!
Not so sure about the Carother's Buy, sell, and Trade thread However

Casino is right, if you did NOT make the transaction on one of the dedicated Sales sub-forums, i.e. The Knife Exchange, you can NOT leave feedback. Only thing you can do is to open a 'Good' thread in GBU to nominate/recognize the person you had a transaction with. Hope this helps, OP.

Just to clarify, the Seller has to have a thread AND the buyer needs to have a post in that particular sale thread.

Cheers,
C.

With reference to the above few posts from Tommy on down: You are able to exchange feedback like hhmoore has stated (I think unless the seller locks the sales thread made on the Exchanges before feedback is exchanged).

Tommy, I have had a couple of patrons on here leave me very generous and glowing praises on the GBU as that sub is not all intended for problems and the bad stuff, but I personally would like to keep my name out of there even if for the good reasons :)

Mat, you can do feedback regardless if the thread is locked! Also I guess I always relied on the feedback system, or PM's I received from Buyer's:thumbsup:

Ah OK Tommy, good to know. They must've changed that because when migrated to Xenfro back when, IIRC the threads needed to be both unlocked and the buyer must have made a post in the FS / FT threads.

Anyway, apologies for derailment.
