Thanks so much for the welcome Andy!
The Karda is definitely in the running now! <sigh> So many choices, in a happy way!!![]()
I can see that, the Karda is like a small Bushboot but a bit pointier. I have an ED Karda, a Karda blade on a larger handle, and I'd say a Karda will handle the vast majority of regular cutting chores, like a pocket knife that doesn't pivot. My ED Karda is very handy, and if you look through the pictures thread you'll see a few of us have and like them. I am wanting to get a 1/8 tapered standard Karda in stainless when I can manage it.
Nice collection! It definitely helps to have visuals for comparison purposes! You hit all of my likes, for sure!
The Karda and I think it's the Asp (second from top) both have qualities that draw my eye. Love the green canvas micarta on the Asp, but shape of the blade on the Karda is lovely. Guess I'll have to be checking in frequently tomorrow for FBF and see what my first Fiddleback will be! I've learned a lot in just this little while.
Thanks everyone for helping the Fiddleback Newbie!
In that photo the second knife down is a guardless Hiking Buddy with what I think is a sapphire blue burlap micarta handle. The Shade Tree burlap micarta is awesome! The second knife up is the Karda. The others from top to bottom are an EDC-II, a KPH, and a Runt.
I do not have a standard Three-Finger Karda, but the bottom knife in this pic is an EDK, with a Bushboot right above it.

A shot of just the EDK

I have a couple of knives with the Shade Tree burlap micarta, and it is quickly becoming a favorite handle material for me.

I think thats a Hiking Buddy (2nd from top) ... but im far from an expert.![]()
You can definitely identify a Hiking Buddy, even when it is a rare guardless one
