@matthew,
this ´sense of flow´ is a gift and I´m grateful for....
and I had to train my eye 30 years long in dental tecniques by creating esthetical ceramic-restorations for teeth.

best regards

Ah! That certainly helps explain it! This knife is certainly not the first of yours that has made me pause and reflect, merely the latest. LOVE the work - thank you for sharing!

I was fortunate enough to be in Solingen, Germany for the big German Knifemaker's Guild show this past month and had the pleasure of meeting Gerhard. Gerhard's work really stood out among many masters. As this magnificent knife shows, Gerhard has a flowing style of design that is his own. His work is original, perfectly executed, beautiful, and feels perfect in the hand. The hamon on his blades are really beyond. Kudos on this knife for sure!

hi kevin,
thanks for your post and the kind words!

the evening, when we met unexpectedly, was a highlights of the show for me...
friends had reserved a table in a restaurant, I came a bit lately and the only free place was besides a for me unknown man.
we were introduced...ok, an american knifemaker......sorry, what was your name?...kevin casey.... at ´bladesforum`????...yes!...hey, and I`m ´wieland´at blades...!
unbelievable, it was like meeting a friend, of whome you didn´t know that he exists.

best regards and a successful ´Blade`

Beautiful flowing elegance, Gerhard!
What is the symbol on the butt plate? Is it your mark?

All the best,

Your sense of style and flow makes a lot more sense now. I grew up with a father for a dentist and understand how dental lab work takes an excellent eye and a incredible attention to fit and finish. It also explains your use of articulating paper I recall seeing on another forum a while back... ;)

Amazing piece. As always, I am awed by your work.
