I just purchased a 1992 model Acer 3vk. I am by no means a machinist and know very little about them (other than what I have read). The machine looks to be in good shape and all the moving purposes are freed up. The guy I bought it from was honest about the machine and said that the only issue with the machine is the motor burned out a while back. This model came with a 3hp 220v 3 phase motor. I was wondering if any of you gents had ever put a different motor on one of these so it could be run on 220 single phase, or even 110. I live out in the country and getting 3 phase out here is next to impossible. Or, the other option is to have the 3phase motor that is on it re-wound and then buy a phase converter. If any of you use a phase converter can you please recommend one?
Any help is appreciated! Curtis

A relatively inexpensive static phase converter works in this application for three phase mills.

It sounds like the motor that is on it is burned up? If so, I'd replace it with a 230 single phase motor.

Get all the motor specs off that one, frame number especially.
Then call around and see if you can get new motors and how much.
