Assisted knives

I find the ao handy especially working around the ranch, hopping off a tractor to open a hay bale or having to cut tangled bale wrap its really handy to have it open with the spring. So are auto's for that matter, although sometimes finding the button takes longer than just tabbing the thumb on zt.

Honestly I totally agree with whatever makes you happy is what you should use. On the other hand some of the people who never had an assisted knife and are intimidated to try one I think they are worth trying especially something like a kershaw leek and I even like my Gerber instant that I use for just random bs tasks.

I can open folders even with my hand issues, but easier is always better sometimes I find myself struggling and that isn't safe so assisted is sometimes my best option to have a one handed opening.

Mine broke the first weekend I had it. Its replacement broke within a week. That one's replacement has lasted a year or two now. They're not all made equally in my experience.
My results have been much better. Out of 4, 3 have never broken the torsion bars. The 4th took almost two years.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of the least expensive parts in the knife, though, after the plastic lock tab and the screws.

I have got an old Buck Sirus in a trade ages ago. That is my only assisted knife, but that is the only one that broke on me. It did it just last week. I checked: one of two springs cracked. It was really well used: by myself included! So now is not assisted, but a regular folder. Not a big deal. Though probably it's not so much fun now I have to say. :(
