Assisted Opening Folder choices?

I don't like the Kershaw AOs, but haven't used anyone elses. The safety on them is really poor.
I'm guessing you are talking about the safety on the Chive, Scallion, and Leek, or are you refering to the ones on the Boa, Bumps, and Centofonte/Onion's as well? How about the AO's we put out that don't have a safety (Blur's, Blackouts, Whirlwinds, etc.), are you referring to them as well?

Section 750.226a, it too easily could be interprated badly if the knife ended up being used for the worst, or if you happen to get pulled over by the wrong cop on the wrong day.

Then again, I guess since my Native is almost exactly 3.125" from the end of the handle to the tip of the blade the courts could rule against that as well.

In any case, a few knife counter guys have mentioned of a customer here, a customer there having problems with LEO's and their AO Kershaws when I was shopping around.

Edit: Oops its 3 1/16" not 3 1/8" from handle to tip.

Very solid knife. Easy to open or close one handed and has a strong spring assist. The blade steel is AUS-8 which is not high end, but I think it is a good working steel and is easy to sharpen. Camillus is out of business, so don't count on a warranty, but the price is right, and I have never had a problem with mine in the several years that I have had it.

Camillus is out of business??!! When did this happen?

Kershaw Large Cyclone. Thumb stud opening or flipper. Plain or partially serrated.

I would get the blur at Walmart I had to have one and I don't know why I don't really like per SE or the all black look or the tanto tip, but I had to have it. I carry it a lot now. I love this knife, great buy for the money and its at walmart around 55 bucks sweet deal. I would at least look at one in your local Walmart.

Lots try to duplicate it but none of them work as well or as reliably as Kershaw's AOs do. If you don't like Kershaw's original Onion AO you most likely won't be happy with any of them. SOG is not as good, and neither is BM but they offer them on some models.

I'd recommend looking at the Zero Tolerance O400 and any of the Kershaw AOs from the BlackOut, to the Spec Bump, and maybe even give a look at some of their manual flipper type openers also. For some the AO spring isn't even needed or wanted. I know quite a few guys carrying a Black Out that took the springs out or left it broken when it broke and they never missed it. Just spoke with one at the local Wal-Mart here tonight when I got me a new Multi Tool. He works behind the counter here and is one of Kershaw's biggest fans. I think he has carried that Black Out since I met him. It hasn't had a torsion spring for a couple years.

I second the Camillus Heat. My trusty main EDC for over a year now.

Kershaw Cyclone is a steal at around $55, Sandvik 13C26 and AO. I have a few and they have seen much use as my EDC. The one that really makes me smile every time I flip it open is the Kershaw BOA. Has recurve blade, S60v steel and a great AO. You can find them for around $100.

I have a Blur and it's awesome. Had a SOG Flash II but got rid of it. It just
felt cheap and the lock has alot of vertical flex. I might get another in aluminum though, hopefully it won't be so cheap feeling. Matbe a Heat
is next on the agenda or a Speed Bump...;)

Camillus is out of business? wow. When did that happen?
I thought they would be doing well with their Becker
and Cuda lines.

Kershaw is tops and I have several, but at the moment you can not beat the Camillus Heat at $20.....buy several ( I did) at that price !!

I have one and its been a good knife so far. I don't like liner locks as a rule so haven't really had it in the rotation for a while. I prefer frame locks for safety reasons. So check out a little bit more expensive CUDA Dominator designed by Darrel Ralph. Costs twice as much but its made of S30V steel blade and titanium handle too.

Both have a fast deployment action.
