Just have a couple questions about assisted opening folders:

1. Would it be possible for CS to produce an assisted opening folder using the Tri-Ad lock?

2. If Benchmade's axis lock is supposedly one of the strongest locks, why aren't they using it for all of their assisted opening knives? Why do they seem to be focusing on Nitrous, etc. (ie. Subrosa)?

I specialize in removing/disarming AOs.

1) yes, but i don't think cold steel has any spring assisted knives, do they?

2) benchmade has manual and autos that are not axis either (example: skirmish, AFO)

1. Yes

2. Benchmade does use an assisted opener with the axis lock, called the axis assist. Currently only the Barrage uses it. And it is awesome.

sigh

everyone forgets the benchmade warn .. its awesome too you know.. :)

i dont think ive ever seen an assisted back/mid lock, which the triad essentially is.

but it would be interesting to see how they could overcome the resistance provided by the lockbar.

The Warn is pretty awesome but it is a variant on the Barrage

I wouldn't say that is correct..

Barrage has Valox handles and a 154CM blade

Warn has G10 handles (textured kind of like the griptilian) and a D2 blade

The handle design is exactly the same, though (ok, there's the WARN logo on the Warn...) Save for the materials, the Warn is essentially the Barrage with a different blade shape.

By the way, there was a short run of the Barrage with G10 handles as opposed to Valox.

That is like saying the Endura is the same thing as Caly 3 on basis of the fact that it is the same company, same mechanism, same lock, despite different blade shape, different handle materials, and different blade steel..

he didnt say it was the same thing and he mentioned the different blade shape and materials. otherwise yeah they look pretty alike, were they made by the same person?

Wow, do I really have to spell it out to you?

This is the Barrage:

This is the Warn. Pay very close attention to the handle shape. And you should also note that both handles also sport the same exact lock-lock (the switch at the top.) I even invite you to click one of the images and drag the shadow of it onto the other and see if you can lay them one right on top of the other.

Now do you really want to tell me that that's like saying these two are the same?

I'm really hoping that this is all just a misunderstanding, because it's REALLY obvious to me lol

no i get the difference

in my mind the barrage and the warn are very different, just tryin to make an exaggerated example thats all

not a big deal anyways

very interesting, thx for the link.

from the pics, it looks like the lock doesn't engage the blade tang very much.

do you have one?

Yes I have both. The Blink seems to engage deeper than than the twitch XL.

I haven't used either knife much but my dad has carried a blink for 5 or 6 years and loves it. I gave him a Kershaw Leek for his last birthday and but he still likes the blink better. He said "I have a good knife already". I said "now you have one more".
