Assisted opening knives...

One argument I've often heard against them, is that it's a way companies can hide quality issues. It makes sense to me. Especially since you see it much more commonly on cheap knives. They don't need to put as much attention into making a good action if they can just stick a spring in there so you never even notice it. I don't personally have anything against them, but I wouldn't buy one. I like being able to feel the action on a knife. It tells you a lot about the quality. If I want something snappy, I'll just grab an auto. Even those give you a bit more feedback in the button or switch.

Not interested in a rabbit hole, I'm just curious which ones he has found to be cheap feeling.
A Sebenza would probably feel cheap next to one of his regular carry knives but he'll be by.

I do see a Chive on his list which I'd call nice for an assisted folder but when measured against the other stuff not so much.

I'd consider Chives to definitely be on the cheaper end of things.

I'm the curios type; so the choice in assisted openers defaults to cheap?
There are plenty of nice, high quality, well finished assisted folders in the $150-$400 range, in my opinion. I wouldn't call those cheap feeling at all. Lots of room in the market between a Chive and a $1000 knife.

I was just asking the guy which ones he personally found to be cheap feeling.

What's an expensive assisted opener? Like 1K range.
Not everyone can afford edc knives that cost $1,000.00. It's nice that some people have Sebenzas like so many nickels and dimes in their pocket, but I can safely say that's not the norm. I would argue that there are some knives out there that are expensive that certainly aren't worth what they sell for, but your mileage may vary.

OK, what are the $400.00 ones? Those ZT's with the tiger stripes?
