Assisted Opening or Higher Quality Blade Steel?

it's all about the steel, ao is cute but it gets old and sooner or later the spring will break. i like kershaw knives and the storm 2 with sandvik is a really good knife for the money. personally i'd go with the spyderco endura 4, if it's a little big then go with the delica, you won't be sorry. good luck, ahgar

I'd like to point out that supersteels are gimmicks too....
How can a "super steel" be a gimmick when it actually performs better? Yes, super steels may offer more hype than performance, but they actually do perform better.

Super steels are not gimmicks. Calling a crap steel like 420J2 "Surgical Stainless" is a gimmick.

Thanks for the replies.....on monday I knew absolutely nothing about knives and then I found this place and four days later I bought (ordered on ebay) my first knife, an Endura 4....that wave feature sold it for me. It's about half an inch longer then I originally wanted but I work in Construction Management and am usually on a construction site so it's not like people are going to be freaked out by a near 4" blade.

I also can't get over how fun the leek was to play with using the forefinger AO at the store so I'll probably put one of those on my birthday list (which is only a couple weeks away) for carrying when I'm working in our companies office since a regular one can be had in the $40 range.

And with those two knives I should be pretty much set.....at least that's what I keep trying to tell myself LOL
