I would like to buy a folding knife as a back-up to my fixed blade knife that I take backpacking & hunting. I have read that AST-34 makes a great blade, but, I have noticed that the prices vary drastically from manufacturer to manufacturer. Is all AST-34 steel equal or do some manufacturers put out a better blade than other even if they both use AST-34 steel.
