where is everyone getting there ats-34 from?
i was only wanting to get enough for 2 blades to see if i can ht this and everything to do with it.
any help would be great

You can get a 36" bar from Admiral Steel, If you just want a couple of cut offs to test for HT pm you address and Ill put a couple in an envelope for you.

Thanks patrick, but i"m wanting to ht make a couple little knives and sand and polish . you know do it all to see the difference between 1095 and ats-34 vern
 
Make sure you equipment is up to the ATS-34 HT, I think the target temp is 1900 and you have to hold for 15 minutes or more. You need to seal the knife in stainless foil to prevent decarb. Ats-34 is a good stainless and will not rust or stain like 1095.
 
thanks for the info patrick, my kiln will go to 2100 and it has a timer seg. on it.
it should be different for me. can't wait.

It also needs an air or plate quench . And a cyro soak is highly recommended for this steel .
