Hello dear brothers,
With God's good will today i managed to finish another knife 'Astronomia'
Honestly this knife took me the most planning and detail fitting ever but it turned out very nice and special, a luxury piece indeed.
The blade is made out using forged O2 core San Mai steel, has a thin convex grind, looks very aggressive and due to it's geometry cuts like crazy.
The handle is the star of the show, it is a complex hybrid that looks and feel fantastic in hand. The main idea was for it to reassemble a part of our universe. The main body is made out using A grade water buffalo horn that was buffed to a superb finish becoming translucent and showing it's inner streaks structure that seems to be the dark universe. It holds the three most representative planets in our solar system Saturn, Jupiter and Earth.
Each planet is a gemstone that was carefully inlaid in the antler base so we have Lapis Lazuli for Earth, Pietersite for Jupiter and Tiger Eye for Saturn; these gives it an exclusive look and a plus of value.
The middle part is made out using a 'sky blue' stabilized and dyed maple burl piece that holds in it the Sun, a superb Carnelian sphere. The Sun is visible on both sides of the knife but it is raised on the dominant, planet's side.
In order to put this middle part in contrast a curved 3k carbon fiber slim bolster was added, it looks nice and it's structure reminds of a meteorite.
Everything is set on thin black v fiber liners and secured using 5 carbon fiber pins.
Overall the knife measures app 7.3" with and app 3.15" blade.
The price for this one is 330 usd.
