At blade show........ Discussion Thread

Thanks for reminding me. I did enjoy seeing it on display...but failed to take any pics of it on the TOPS table. I should probably take at least a couple of pics of it on display...

ya...that could be a thing the designer of said knife might want on his memory card! LOL

Oh, just wait till I'm back to my pc and I'll post mine too :)

Awesome... I just saw the post about the TOPS coming into the shop too... can't wait and I really like the looks of it... if you don't mind I'll post some pics but they won't be as good as yours. I'm eagerly awaiting the kitchen knives too.... I'll get the BK14 in D2 asap cause I can't strip my blades and still make proper sheaths for them... I like D2 so "I'm in". I think I was waiting for a re-release or something bigger but I'll take this.... and some kitchen knives damnit!:D

I just got home and upacked lads. My Moose ass is whooped. What a show, we sold out of knives in record time, and in epic proportions. What a party, I didn't see my room until early each mornin'. I was a good lad, I only had a few shots of Rum at my party. And a few beers. Quite a few beers, but those I can handle. :D

What was at the show of new interest? Stuff. Not a lot of stuff. But some stuff. Ya'll heard about the BK24. Not much else was there. Nothing new, but the same stuff we could already tell you about. ZT had some new stuff, but you'll have to see it over there.

What did I do? From the morning to the evening, we worked. And I do mean work. When the show was over, everyone rushed back to their room for a few, to put their feet up, and freshen up, then, off to meetings of sorts. Some official, some not so official. Business at Blade isn't done on the show floor, its done from 6-9pm. :D

Thursday night, there was a good vibe in the air, lots of folks were there early, setup and ready, but going easy on the booze, because the show was on its way. Some stuff got broke in the Pitt, and some new friends were made. I didn't break a thing, thank God.

Friday, the show doors blew open at noon, and the game was on, folks rushed the floor, looking to score before the others got there. Money started changing hands. Everywhere. Friday night, I had a party of sorts, and it went well. After that, back to the Pitt for some laffs and beer.

Saturday morning is a rough one at Blade, most are dealing with an illness of sorts. Some, just don't make it at all. Goes with the territory. :D Late that afternoon, we hit the level of SOLD that makes you know, that Sunday, is a day of enjoying the floor. Saturday night, well, we knife nuts ran them out of booze. All of it. No beer, no liquor, no wine. Empty. They had about a half of a keg on a couple of drafts, but that's all there was. And it sucked. :D

Sunday, ah, sweet Sunday morning, a quick check in on the booth, and off to see what I been glimpsing. And our turn to buy stuff. From grumpy, hung over vendors that you just spent the previous evening, yelling at over the din of the Pitt. :D Good stuff. A quick pack up, much shaking of the hands, hugs and friends leaving that you know you won't see for another year.

With new friends made, and new steel acquired, one last good bye to those around, then, the trip home.

I'm sitting here typing, with sore feet, 5 new knives, and some knicknacks, its good to be home.

Dinner's cooking, and my kids are milling about, I'm bushed. Prolly see ya'll tomorrow. :D

Moose

PS, I'm sure you are interested in the knives, well, Condor Hudson Bay, Spartan Nyx, Dozier K-11 Columbia River, Candiru, and Phatbob. :D

What Moose said, though I didn't get there till Friday afternoon, and I didn't party quite as hard,
But man, this Blade was the best one I've attended, and it was mostly about putting faces with usernames I've known for years.
Selling knives was fun, but the knives really sold themselves. The fun part was talking to people with the passion, from kids all the way up to master makers.
I just got home, poured a shot of Pappy 12, and sat down. I'll post up more later.
In addition to this place, I owe several subforums/threads here some content, particularly Kershaw and Knife Rights. Maybe Chris Reeves too. ;)

No worries by me man, post away. Speaking of pics...got the ones off my first camera...still have more to get off my point and shoot and the little woman's so I'll be posting tomorrow some time. Right now I am about to get the little one to bed and chill out for a while checking out some new steel with my feet propped up...or maybe outside in the back yard lol :)

Love that picture of you three. I love pics when you can see that you are laughing instead of a stale smile for the camera.

Thanks for the update and looking forward to more pics.

Haze looks like he's about to cut my throat.

Grabbed a quick pic of my items from Blade. There was a little more Becker swag too (hat, catalog, photo DVD).
At goinggear, which basically moved its whole shop into the Galleria Convention Center, I got a Rite in the Rain tablet.
And because I kept admiring the badge/passport pouches that Moose, Tooj, and Ethan had on, I wound up getting one for travel and for shows.
Knifeworks was passing out the cool Maxpedition water bottles. Snagged one right at the end of the show.
Got some Eskabar scales for a rainy day. And of course, there was a Phatbob in D2, a mid-90's Dozier "in-family" hunter, and a pretty nice Large Sebenza 21 with unique graphic.
Oh, and a Spartan knives bead. I've misplaced the one Moose got for me at Spirit of Steel. It'll turn up, but until then...

wow, i almost feel like i got no loot.

well, i had what i got that i can't easily checked sent to Olean, i'll get it back when i make an order.

did buy a Zombie sign, and a $10 pointy knife. gave away a knife. got a proto.

build the booth with some shoving from Ethan on the cases. the rest was cut and stock. we brought 16 large boxes, including display stands/etc. most of that was material to sell. emptied all boxes, and on Friday, final set up was a breeze. almost nothing to do for Tara and TOOOJ. oh, did i mention? yes! Tara showed up. what a pleasure to finally meet her. TOOOJ of course, was toooooooj. awesome! we also were graced with Steve Johnson. he's very fun!

fondled many protos. took many pictures. spent most of my time on my feet, barring a 2-3 hours, was in the booth selling. got a rhythm. many items were actually sold out FRIDAY.

sold out all the neckers by saturday. then the standard kabar marine knife with tan handles. by sunday noon, we had a handful of stuff left. one large box for display stands, and two small boxes for the rest. that's a RECORD! wow.

bit tired. i'll write more, and perhaps actually link to the iphone pictures i took, then upload some DSLR pictures, and a couple videos i managed.

those 2-3 hours i wasn't in the booth? running around, yakking, seeing stuff. didn't buy anything. sad. spent more money on travel than i liked, but being there rocks. i am considering skipping next year. the new stuff was nice, but i've been 3-4 years in a row now? time for a break. at least, if i do go, i won't work quite so hard. seriously tired. feet and back. dead.

did not see anything i wanted that i can't get later from KaBar. well, except of a SWEET prototype i can't talk about. PPS :) heh heh heh. PPS. heh heh heh.

some drinking thu. good. some drinking fri. good. lots of good food. no drinking sat. VERY GOOD. and now i have a beer.

did i mention i hate travelling? oiy. :D
