AT Thru-Hike

My Apologies to the OP as well.

On the topic of Bear MT CT and bad weather.

If there is risky weather such as lightning or other factors such as a minor injury someone could take the Under Mountain/Paradise lane loop trail to avoid the summit. Paradise lane has a nice marked primitive campsite maybe 1/4 mile in from the blue blaze though yea have to hike a bit more to the water. The privy is one of those box types (without roof etc). Seems the camping sites gets less play so is often free of campers when Sages is packed. The only downsides are not all the camp sites on the map have been actually cleared by the trail crews and there is a potential widow maker near the group campsite. I informed some Ridgerunners of this a few months ago during a weekend hike. They stopped by my camp. Nice people.

I like that whole area around the CT/MA border.

.

Me too. I was there again today dropping my daughter off at Camp Hi-Rock.

Is this the sign at the top of the Race Brook Falls Trail?

I saw The mighty Tim again, and he was heading into GB for an all you can eat Indian buffet. Feeding a hungry Thru-Hiker, they might just go broke.

Here you go. :) Betting this is what your talking about. I forgot if the above sign is on the same trees though. But yea that's the place.

edit.

If you don't know maybe consider telling your children about the rattlers so they know to keep an eye out. I found this one about a 1/2 mile from that sign on Race. I believe they can be found thoughout the area.

Here is a photo of Bear Mt taken from Riga after going over Lion's head. I think Bear is off to the right.
