Before you put my first two multi-tools. The Gerber Suspension I purchased about 12 years ago. The Leathermen Wingman I purchased maybe 10 years ago.

I hate to say but I did not really think much of multi-tools back then. I found the Gerber in the bottom of my old mans gun cleaning kit. So who knows what kind of chemicals have eaten at it. The Leathermen was placed in my fishing bag. So it’s in a bit better condition.

At this point I’m considering taking both completely apart and cleaning each part separately.

If I can avoid this that would be great. I’ve tried soaking them in hot water & dish soap. But not to much success.

Any other tips???

Dan, where was that one where it could get so nasty?
Jim it's the Solo I left by a tree 11 years ago. It fell out of my pocket while whistling foxes. I found it earlier this year while whistling foxes at the same tree I sit at every time I go down the back of the farm and that's quite often. The loss of that prompted me to buy my Huntsman I use now. The liners are beyond repair so it's a long term project getting it usable again.
