I will do some really long range throws to check the head/handle attachment later. The edge sinks into wood fairly easily with the more acute profile so NIB it would have to be thrown a fair bit harder and thus the distances would be closer for a given turn. No issues with release. There was a bit of a problem though with impacts that hit full with the edge because it is so straight the penetration is a bit low and it would tend to come out. To get maximum penetration the tomahawk should, as always, lead with the top of the bit.
I order a CS Trailhawk the other night, cant wait for it to arrive. Its just been recently that I've gotten into 'hawks, they are very usful, and light.
I am a big user of traditional axes (95% of my life has been spent in homes with wood heat only) but never had a tomahawk. Kind of considering it after this review!
