This is an original shipwreck recovery coin from the treasure ship "Nuestra Senora Atocha" which sank on September 6 1622 off the coast of the Florida Keys.
The coin is a 402 year old Spanish Silver 8 Reale that was recovered in the mid 1980's by Mel Fisher in what was a well documented
treasure recovery of arguably the largest hoard of sunken treasure ever found! The coin comes with original documentation/certification,
as well as a hand made, period correct, bezel and chain of sterling silver. This necklace is one of the finest examples I've seen offered in many years,
so If you like this kind of thing, don't let it get away.
The substantial weight of this beautiful piece is over 5 1/2 oz's The chain is 24" long.
