ATR compression lock question

Just recieved my new ATR and I'm quite pleased with how solid it feels. But I was wondering how far the compression lock is supposed to travel. On mine the lock travels inwards the entire width of one handle scale. When viewing the opened knife, the compression lock bar has traveled about 50% of the way across the blade stop pin. Just wondering if other owners of compression locks could give me some feed back on what theirs are like, and how much do compression locks wear compared to liner/frame locks which I'm more familiar with?

The other thing I noticed was that the serrations on this fully serrated ATR, are more pointed and agressive compared to the serrations on my Dallera rescue. Both are new, but the distance between the tips of the teeth and the low points of the trough are noticably longer on the ATR. Is there a reason for this, or do some spydies just come out more agressive than others?

The distance the lockbar travels across the stop pin varies from knife to knife. The good news is, due to the thickness of the lockbar and overall heavy construction of the ATR, it doesn't seem to wear very fast, so where it is now is likely to be where it will be a year from now.

Serrations vary quite a bit from model to model as well. The thickness behind the edge has a noticeable effect as well. I think the D'Allara is ground a bit thicker behind the edge than the ATR, but I haven't measured them to see. The C54BMS Calypso has the most aggressive serrations I have ever seen.

I have a PE ATR that has been EDC for 3 years or so no issue with the lock bar mine sits about the same as yours, 1 width in and I have heard the SE are fairly aggressive. :)

I just got the ATR SE And i already can tell its going to compete with my para in the edc realm

Same here. The lock-bar is flush with the side of the blade.
If you look inside the handle with the blade in the locked position you can see how much room is left for wear, it still has a ways to go.

The serrations are also very aggressive, it's just the way this knife was designed.

I think it's noteworthy that the Compression lock is the only lock type I know of with a virtually perfect track record, not one report of failure (that I've heard of).
The integral Compression lock (the frame lock version used on the ATR) is always mentioned as being particularly solid.
In my opinion it is the most reliable lock design on the market.

how far the bar rides does vary, i have 3 Ti ATR's and one they vary from all the way to one side to all the way to the other side lol, all lock fine though, the one which rides the farthest to the right is my edc one, its always locked like that and always been 100%.

imho the Ti ATR is the best edc spydie, and the SS ATR isnt far behind it,

So, theres this screw that is screwed into the locking bar, of the compression lock. Does anyone know what its for?

The screw is to keep it from traveling too far when you release the lock.
