ATS-34 119 with Grey Dymondwood Handles

My signature series 805 and 819 are S30V. Did they do these in ATS34 as well?

Ratty,

Isn't that the walnut knives? I would love to see a run of the entire (from 102 thru 124)100 series knives in S30V and black linen micarta. Now wouldn't that be a collectable series?

Wouldn't Hawkeye just fall all over himself for a 121 in S30V, black linen micarta, and 4 maroon spacers?

Jack is supposed to be out of town all this week I think and its holidays next week. Not sure exactly when he'll get to it but it's going to be cherry I'm sure.

S30V 121, Black Micarta, and 4 Red spacer. Wow!! As some of you may remember the 121 was my first Buck fixed blade gifted by my father to me back in the early 70's...I just love the pattern.

I would have liked to see a 821, S30V blade lanyard hole Walnut grips. It would not even need to be a mirror polished blade to keep me happy!:D:D HL

Yes, The Walnut handle, full tang. But don't tell Hawkeye about them. :D

and yes, the whole 100 series could stand a steel upgrade. Specially the 121.

The sheaths on these are a cut above the standard sheaths, but what I would expect out of LE sheaths, altho not all are like that.

I won't contaminate Flats thread anymore with 800 series stuff. If I can get energetic enough tomorrow, maybe I will start one of the 805 and 819's

Do you really like S30V better than ATS 34, The ones i have have such large carbides that they micro chip like crazy. Its a bugger to sharpen, and the fine edge fractures very quickly, leaving behind what almost looks like a saw blade under a scope. 50X magnification is eye opening.

Contaminate away guys!! I'm finding the discussion about the 800 series very interesting. g

That's a good question actually. I've had zero issues with Buck's S30V. It cuts like a champ, holds an sharp working edge wonderfully, and is moderately easy to sharpen on my Sharpmaker.

That said I would be just as happy with CPM-154 or 154CM or ATS-34 as the blade steel in a run of the 100 series. It's all just wishful thinking. Buck did premium steel with the Masters series in BG42. I guess I'd be surprised if they did it again. But one never knows. g

I bought several (4) of these 119's from the factory sale sheet that went around last year. There were 31 total being offered. I know of one other forum regular that bought two. The rest got grabbed up by the folks in Post Falls I assume. I have seen two that sold on eBay and I sold one in the forum sale section. So a rather rare knife.

I'm having one rehandled with ironwood to clarify the the post above about that.

Was it me that you are refering to as having bought two? If it wasn't then there are more than one that bought two of them.:) I'd also like to explore the possibility of getting a custom handle on one of them.

I talked to Chuck how much I really wanted a ATS-34 119 and he said "that would be easy to do." So I like to think Chuck had all that left over ATS-34 (was possibly going to become 110 blades according to Pete) turned in to 119s just for me. ;););)

ARggggg!!!!
so that is why we did not get the ats 34 110 blades i heard we would get!!
guess we all know jest WHO has the pull now!!:o
