Mick or Duane from your stand point and what you have found out (anyone else can jump in if they want to). Say I want a Flat Grind BT. And this knife is going to be used pretty hard (for every kind of chore). Lets just say that for the moment that you would be carrying the knife into the field, and like always, if it breaks it might mean your life. So now that I have said that which steel would you choose and at what thickness.

Hey, Duane or Mick any feed back will help, im in the market to buy.

Thanks

Matt

In a small blade that will not be used very hard, BG-42 is better, but in a large knife like a BT that will be used very hard, you can't really tell the difference between BG-42 and ATS-34. I hope that helps:)

Jeff

That was one of the reasons I was asking. And yea, I am pretty sure that it is. But what the hell if the ATS rusts just get out the ol' brillo pad. Or just use a tuff cloth.

Matt

Corrosion resistance is equal.
Yes BG works better on smaller parts.
That is why we make our folder blades out of BG.

There is only one choice under these conditions........

1/4" INFI by BUSSE COMBAT
Everything else is INFerior..........!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this Guy for real? don't he know where he is? Will somebody please pull up that picture of Mick's version of the e-handle so we can all welcome this infi guy in our usual style

He just came from the other thread in GB and U and is just stirring the pot. Maybe I can sell him my Busse Natural Outlaw and buy another Strider.

Go buy your Busses, but spout off like a drunkard in the General Knife discussion forum. This isn't named the Strider forum for a cool logo, bubba.
Don't knock the manufacturer if you got a little miffed by the way he deals with stupid questions and answers.

I know they didn't kiss his bum or hold his hand, but don't expect sympathy.

If you are done trying to piss us off, which just kinda makes us disappointed that people are so thin-skinned, welcome to the Strider forum. Hang out and you might like it.

Take your Pusse's...I mean Busse's and go someplace else. Or stick around and maybe learn something or, have you thought of this, how about starting a post asking for information or comparisons of Busse knives and Striders.

I actually posted here before we got in to a discussion on the GBU.
This post was not an attempt to "Piss" you off.
This was a learning probe.
I'm just trying to find out what YOU guys see in a Strider.
I can't see it!? I'm trying, but .........I just don't see the big addiction for a very limited use knife.
Maybe an AD-1, but other than punching 55 gal. drums, breaking ammo crates, prying, ect, with the other knifes I can't see it.
This is not intended as a smart a$$ dig....
I just want to see what a Strider will do on a edge to edge, metal penetation, heavy pry till the knife bends, and how far till it won't bend any further test.
The above test I expect Strider doe's well in, BUT will it proform like a Knife Too?
Open food, sharpen wood, build a shelter, cut rope, keep you alive in the mountains or the Sand box if there is no one there to kill?
Be a knife?
I can't see it as a "knife" with the grinds that they have.

Maybe I am missing something here, but look at the grind on your Busse as compared with a MT or GS? Much sleeker and sharper grind. Maybe the BT is not quite as useful, but 9 times out of 10 that it is the operator and not the tool. Also, balance wise, nothing beats a good GS, with its cushy yet firm cord wrap. Busse is a good tool, but not much character other than the Mr. Mojo series.

Best bet for understanding Strider is to handle some. Maybe even buy one, if you don't like it, there is enough of a demand that you can sell it easily.

I hope the guys don't rip you a new one, but you are kinda sticking you're nose in the badger hole. Not the best way to make first impression.

Take care and hopefully you will find your answers,
Reed

1whobuys:

Check out Cliff Stamp's web page. There he has an 18 page evaluation of the Strider WB model. By Cliff's report, you can chop, pry, etc. with the WB and it cuts. There is much numerical data as well.

I can handle some ripping.

3 years ago, I put my head in a hole and found a Black Bear.
Tracked him for 5 days, smoked him out, bagged him. was dressing him out and the BIG Bear that was in there with him came out.
S-N-A-P! He was under 2 foot away, I never saw it coming.
I was reaching for those keys and bic pen.(had to be there last night)
I think he smelled death on the 1st bear and retreated back in to the hole. My bear and I moved to higher ground and brought the rifle back in reach.
So.....I've been in training for the Badger.:D

Will check out Cliff's site. Thanks
