I'm seeking info on the availability of ATS34 or similar in sheet stock or similar 3mm to 5mm in thickness. I have access to a laser machine I want to cut out a batch of identical blanks. Any help would be appreciated.

I will use the laser because I can get it for free. I am looking for sheet or plate so I can use the CNC nesting program on the bystronics laser. Any suppliers in Australia or nearby?

You got a lasercutter huh? Wanna be my friend? :D

Sandvik seems to be very well known in knifemaking circles for their quality of steel, and their 12C27 is readily available here... If it can be got here Im pretty sure many dealers in oz will stock the same. Visit the sandvik site which details the sizes that they sell in. Knifemaking merchants usually sell the strips. Good luck

not sure about shipping to OZ but i can tell you that crucible will get any and all orders from me so long as they make tht type steel im looking for.

i had a problem with a small bit of steel and asked what happened and why i had a problem with this heat #. long story short they treated me like a big name maker and worked with me to get all things right. all i had to do was send them a small piece of steel to test.

so if you can get it from crucible thats the way i would go. BTW cpm154 is real nice to work with and much more clear (when high finish is used) then any of the ats34 i have worked with

Butch, you may have saved them from some bigger problems finding their bad batch. Nice to know they care.

You would have to import the ATS-34 (as far I know).

You could try Bohler Uddeholm Australia (BUAU) they have a web site I know they have O-1 and their D2. I think they are in many states (Darra in Qld).

The cost of a few pieces (enough for a couple of knives) is just ok - airmail. But anything more otherwise use slow boat (expect a few months) it will cost you a fortune for air mail.

As someone intimated - want to be my friend. LOL
