ats55 vs vg10

In late ’99 or so, I talked to a guy who worked at SFO about VG-10. He said that Spyderco was going to start replacing their ATS-55 blades with it because VG-10 was more stain resistant. That probably wasn’t the only consideration, but I guess it was a big one.

The SS Dragonfly is a great knife and ATS-55 is still a premium steel, IMO. I personally haven’t had any problems with rust, but I live in a very dry environment. People who have to deal with humidity, salt water, etc. may have experienced the issues that CMSpeedy mentioned.


P.S. - There were ATS-34 Militarys, but I don't recall any with ATS-55 blades..
