Attach A guard

I am in need of a little information, please.

I typically use O1 as my steel of choice as I am still learning. I went out and purchased some 440C to get a feel for a different type of steel. In the past when using O1, I would attach my guards with silver solder. Using 440C or something similar, I wanted to see what you fine folks used to attach your guards. I am planning on using brass for the guard material.

Thanks for your assistance

What type of guard are you using, full guard, slotted half guard,?
Depending on how thick the guard is, some I drill and pin then solder, some I just solder. (use a good silver bearing solder). Some I J-B Weld.

You solder the guard on the same way. Use a flux that says, "For Stainless Steel". Make sure the fit is snug.

BTW, silver soldering is different from using silver bearing solder,I] AKA soft solder. Silver soldering is done at 1000F to 1250F. Soft soldering is done at 280F to 400F.
