Attaching a 4” contact wheel from bader to a kmg style arm?

got a bader 4” wheel recently on the recommendations of a few makers I really look up to, quality between it and Beaumont’s lately is night and day.

However it has a 5/8 stub shaft that is internally threaded for 3/8. I have no idea how it’s attached on a bader arm, and I can’t use a 1/2” thru bolt like I have on the Beaumont style contact wheels.

Anyone have any thoughts? Would super appreciate it

you need to drill a 5/8" hole in the tool arm, but not all the way through (best with a flat bottom); then drill a centered 3/8" hole the rest of the way through - it may be easier to drill the 3/8" hole first all the way through the tool arm and then open it up to 5/8" part way through (deep enough to align the 4" wheel with the your grinders drive and idler wheels.) the 5/8" shaft slips into the hole, then a 3/8" bolt and washer is inserted from the other side to secure the shaft in the tool arm. Not sure exactly what the tolerances need to be to allow the 5/8" shaft and 3/8" bolt to fit properly.

The Bader bearing set up is a superior system. I know the larger wheel hubs use a water-pump integral bearing and shaft, I think the 4" does as well.
