Attaching a burner

I am considering one of the Ellis Custom Knives venturi burners for my forge project. I plan on welding up a simple bracket to hold the burner. What I don't know is how far away from the side hole of the forge should the tip be? About an inch? How big should the burner hole be? Any safety dos and don'ts????
