Attaching the ESEE Fire Kit to a RC-4 sheath?

Ive got a question, whats a ranger band? Couldnt you just use a peice of bicycle innertube? Also after seeing some of those kydex loops for the fire steel, if the steel doesn't fit snug couldn't you use some plastic wrap or maybe some shrink sleeve(for wiring) to hold it in place?

Just a couple thoughts, worth every bit of what you paid for em.

A ranger band is just what you said bomber man :p Its nothing more than a cut bicycle innertube but a with way cooler name :D At least thats nearly all the DIY ranger bands you can find on the forums or on youtube ;)

For sure you can buy them as well on some shops but what for?

The kydex sheath for the FireKit must fit very well, otherwise there is the chance to loose it... Thats why I prefer the ranger or another elastic band solution over a fixed unless I can really trust it.

I put this together, shown on a sheath for a ESEE 6....

Hmmmm maybe I should start building my own kydex sheaths when Corona's are such an important ingredient :D

The down side for me is that I’m really good at the Corona part, but not so good at the forming part.

Beer is not important for the sheath, but for the kydex worker....maybe :D

Personally I prefer Alsatian beer :

I just happened across this thread by accident - glad i did - great ideas - thank you all for putting up the pics and info

Seems like I got ya with my thread-trap? Wooohooo :p

@adaman: maybe we should concentrate on what we're good at and let others do the kydex-part? :D
