Good Evening Everyone-
TallWingedGoat, your rational, reasoned, and calm commentary is "right on the money" regarding this issue...
Those of us who recognize the positive values of knives as an "everyday tool" are in a distinct minority. It behooves us to act in a responsible manner as ambassadors of our hobby. While I'm far from being PC, I shake my head when I read about fellow forumites stating silly things like, "they carry five knives to their office job..." or notions along those lines.
If it turns out that Manji truly wanted to regain his position at the company, it would make sense to comport himself in the manner suggested by TallWingedGoat. Like it or not, we have to comply with certain accepted legal/social barriers. As one person mentioned, we're not going to gain acceptance by "scaring" someone by boldly declaring our "rights" without consideration of their viewpoint.
YMMV, but I work in an urban office in a starched shirt/tie/jacket environment. Typically, I carry a BM Mini-AFCK in my pocket. If someone asks, "Does anyone have a knife to cut tape/bagels/string..." my simple answer is usually, "No." If I think it is someone who can comprehend the utility of a medium-sized folder without freaking-out, I make the judgement call then. You always have to take the risk/reward ratio into account.
