Attatching a firesteel to your sheath/knife

So lets assume you have a really nice knife, also you really like the sheath that it came with (leather/kydex combo), however it does not have a nifty pocket to hold a firestell, and you think its a good idea to have one...

Well I am wondering whats the best way to combine the two, ideally without tying one to a lanyard, unless the lanyard was attatched to the sheath i suppose...

Any ideas welcomed!

You could always sew a leather strap around the sheath and through the belt loop, and then tuck your firesteel between the strap and the sheath.

you could get a piece of rigid plastic tubing, run a zipstrap thru the tubing and then thru the eyelets on the sheath.

Make a tiny little matching pouch with a strap that snaps around the sheath, beneath the belt loop? Maybe something with a flap?

I just end up with a strap of leather, use some chicago screws even on the kydex and you can still have a fasionable loop.

Get some bicycle innertube and cut a section out and put around the sheath to slip in the firestriker. You can also cut a section off to increase fire time and heat with damp timder.

I usually just use Ranger bands. Work well for me. It isn't the best in terms of looks, but I like function more than looks.

Good ideas, whats a chicago screw and whats a ranger band?

Bicycle innertube cut into strips to work like a rubber band, only stronger and wider. (You can make them as wide as you want, I tend to go with 1/2"-1")
