hey folks,
i've got a couple of pieces i need made.

the first one's simple - a 1/2" x 1/2" x 6" piece of hardened steel to be used as a hand-held file guide.
something very hard and wear-resistant - d2 maybe?

the second piece is a little bit more complicated, but still fairly simple, i would think.
i basically need a short 2-legged parser with a drill bit shank.

something tough and springy - 5160? 1095?
the "arms" are round, but flatten as they get to the end.
i'm more than happy to defer to greater wisdom when it comes to the steel choices.

anyone out there willing to help a brother out?
:D
thanks and kind regards,
mike

I really cannot help with the smithing issue, but I can tell you that you can buy a "flat" that machinists use that is 1/2" x 1/2" by 6" from MSC and some other machinist supply dealers.

I have 2 of that size from MSC that I use when filing down for hidden tang knives.

If you can provide me with a drawing with dimensions, maybe I can help. I am somewhat familiar with parsers. Send me an email.
