Now, now we must not disparage other makers my friend. I can recall the first time I "met" Mr. Thompson in person. It was my first Blade, Jerry had been kind enough to enlist me to help out at the booth. He let me wear a very cool Swamp Rat polo, this was when Swamp Rat had just hit the scene. So I had been walking about checking things out like a complete tourist. I am ambling down the center of the aisles scanning back and forth taking it all in and I find myself within 10 feet of the Cold Steel booth. Do you know Mr. Thompson was nice enough to meet me out in the aisle and hand me a whole bunch of stuff. The catalogs I found were too slick for T.P. but the Proof videos make very nice beer coasters. They also are quite fun to watch with friends while you finish off a twelve pack or two. I will have to go by and see if he has anymore. Between the Proof videos and my wife's Dixie Chicks CDs I nearly have an even dozen.![]()
I made off with a load of those videos that year also. I didn't make it through the 12 pack though. I gave a few to a buddy who live on some acreage and saw them being used as flappers on his wife's wind chimes! I sat across from Lynn and some of his prospective customers at lunch last year at Blade and got to hear some characteristic tall tales.
