This has happened twice to me now when selling a knife.
If you put notes down on your paypal transaction do not use the term
"Damascus". The security protocols will flag this as possible money going to Damascus, Syria!
It will take a day or two for them to check it and release the funds.

This seems to come up a lot. I saw a post where a member uses kind of a code that I've since adopted, something like "BFKSD" in the note portion, for Blade Forums Kershaw Skyline Damascus, as an example. I've never had a problem but I don't really want a headache.

Safest bet?? Leave the notes empty and keep comms on e mail. To get this straightened out can take a long time and your funds will be tied up.

Happened to a recent customer of mine, I'm taking the word Damascus out of my website and replacing it with Pattern Welded... now if they just don't change the name of that city to Pattern Welded...

Or really get to work over there and rename it New Indianapolis!!

Thanks.

This has been discussed on end.

Sometimes a search first is the best option...leaving the PP comment box empty is another great option as well....

I prefer to have something in the comment field, as sometimes I have to go back through my pp history and look for a transaction. I note about what it was for makes it much easier to be sure. Just leave out words like Damascus, Persian, River of Fire, Isis, etc.

This happened to me earlier this month. Except PayPal declined the payment after 3 days of holding it.

Turds.

they are flagging lots of words and terms. truth be told best to not put any description or very little details or search and make sure whatever you would put isnt' going to be tied to something they deem illegal or trouble as well as what it is hence the persian etc. . also some abbreviations while legit on your transaction, are used in other criminal enterprises as something different and it will flag it as well.

real pain for legit purchases and users, but is what it is.........i learned my lesson, no description beyond what i absolutely need to remember the transaction for myself and the seller, etc.
