This has happened twice to me now when selling a knife.
If you put notes down on your paypal transaction do not use the term
"Damascus". The security protocols will flag this as possible money going to Damascus, Syria!
It will take a day or two for them to check it and release the funds.

A "Words that will cause PayPal payments to be reviewed" sticky would be helpful. I ran into this a while back with a Case Damascus Peanut and posted about it.

Had a Damascus transaction a few weeks ago with G&S. Had no issues and money was available immediately.
Maybe I got lucky but this is definitely good stuff to know. Really appreciate the heads up!

Makers that don't invoice is only time I can think of that you need to put something in the memo( so they can keep track of what you are buying). Leave the memo blank and the problem is solved. There are a number of words that trigger this-search for other threads if you are interested in what they are. Some have had to spend up to 10-14 tedious days trying to work this out. Others it is a comparatively quick process-luck of the draw

:) Borrowed from another thread- when buy a Tom Mayo knife, don't ever describe it as Damascus Persian TNT unless you are ready to do hard time

Don't use the word "persian" either.

"River of Fire" has been known to get knickers in a knot over there too. Basically any word or phrase that that could be associated with terrorism could get flagged.

ViperPilot, I cant thank you enough for your patience in this matter! This is the first time Ive ever utilized the comment section in Paypal and will be the last. Someone recently added a description in the comment section for a knife I sold them and I thought it was helpful, so I thought Id do it as well.... (palm to face) My comment simply said "raindrop damascus sebi" and I didn't think anything of it. I had no idea it was going to cause this mess!

My pleasure! I'm loyal to those that commit to buy from me and I believe all the good guys I have found on this forum deserve some patience because the same thing could have happened to me and I would have hated to lose a knife over it.
I'm sure it will work out and you'll have the Raindrop Damascus!

What I do now is say Raindrop pattern Sebenza. Never had a problem with that. I still like the comments, because sometimes I need to refer back to them too find or identify a past transaction.

Well they fixed the problem and money was let thru.....took 24 hours and on a Sunday I guess not too crazy bad. Interesting story to tell when showing off the knife, anyway!!

To the moderators: Can this thread become a "sticky" ?
Good info! It needs to be preserved! Kudos to ViperPilot for raising the alarm. I have seen this type posting on other threads.
Hoping some BF bigwig will take notice and apply the magic pixie dust that will magically make this sticky!
Yoo Hoo!

Wanting to buy or trade for African Blackwood with B&W zebra damascus.
As pictured above. Thanks for looking!
