Attention to detail.

I'm not sure how to categorize myself. I am very particular about most things. But when I'm in the "zone" I always create an organized chaos. My shop schedule is basically work for 3 days, clean for 1..... my work areas get REALLY messy at times.

My gear is very important to me. Everything has it's place. I'm constantly packing and unpacking my kits. I'm serious when I say that I mentally cycle through my gear once a day.

I don't consciously make an effort to be detail oriented. Maybe I just have one of them thar photogenic memories or sumpin'...

Oh, I grew up military family in the 70s. We had actual classes on how to vary your route home from school and what to look for in people. I'm completely down with that.

But folding your socks the same way is... it's important so you CAN vary other things. Lets you concentrate on other stuff.

Edit-
Rick, art is... different. I have a similar way of working in my shop. Total order to incomprehensible chaos- because i'm paying attention to the important details :D

The 70's were an interesting time to grow up weren't they. Between the tensions of Vietnam, the ever present "Cold War", the vast amount of people lost in a chemical haze, and the seemingly sudden awareness of predatory pedophiles....there was more than ample motivation to hone one's sense of awareness. Especially when your father, who was a Korean conflict veteran Marine, and your grandfather, who hit the beach in Normandy (luckily for me not in the first wave), are continually drumming it into your head.
