• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Did you happen across the guy at SAXET with the "Strider" knives? I was curious about those, but they looked like $50 worth of steel wrapped in $5 of 550 in $20 of Kydex with a $450 price tag. I am curious if you happened across them and if you, or anyone, had any thoughts. They were at the table with the old dude selling a ton of rather beat up Case knives for way more than they are worth, i.e. Sodbuster for like $110.

No I didn't see the Strider knives, but I did see all the Case knives...I remember that guy. I have a couple of Striders and they are okay, just not for those kinds of prices...shave off about $300, and they will be worth it. I would much rather commission one of several makers here on the forums to heat treat me a chunk of steel and wrap some cord around it rather than going the Strider route. Again, not bad knives (too thick for most cutting chores), just over priced and over-hyped.

Oh...Ok...I was wondering about that..one of them actually looked very similar to the blade thing that Benicio Del Toro killed the first couple of agents with in The Hunted...they looked kind of impractical, but seemes heavy enough to be really good choppers.

I've got a good friend in Seattle that is really getting into being prepared and he was asking about picking up a Strider knife...something in the $350 dollar range. I steered him clear and recommended a BRKT Bravo-1 along with a few more reasonable knives. I'm happy to see Strider knives doing so well, but if I had to sell or trade the couple I have, I wouldn't cry too long:D

ROCK and Doug,

I was at the show from about 1000 until 1300, but never ran across you guys! ROCK, I was looking for you in your hat, but somehow we never crossed paths! I did pick up a really nice old S&W K-22 however.
