Recently I was browsing retail websites for pocket knives and the like and came across a website known as DealExtreme.com. I noticed they had a lot of imitations of other manufacturer's knives, and one of them happened to be a Spyderco. Because of this, I felt the need to notify you of this immediately. Here is a link for the knife in question:

Hope this is of any help to you Sal.

Not only does this knife look like a spyderfly it actually has "spyderco" imprinted on it!

That is beyond just knockoff.

Thanx Nerd.

Appreciate the "heads-up".

'Tis a problem. Very difficult to deal with. There are many, they come in like roaches. No one will claim responsibility for mfr. We saw one that was made somewhere in China, but the blade said Spyderco, Golden, Colorado, USA.

Who do you go after?

Doubly interesting since US Customs made sure we couldn't import any parts, yet the copies are imported regularly.

DX has tried to lose my business by selling stuff like that in the past. This just takes the cake. I'm sorry to see this happen, Sal. I won't be supporting that site ever again.

Enough is enough.

I hate to see something like this. :thumbdn:

These lowsy scumbags just don't know when to quit.:thumbdn:

Long live Mike Dye and The Pharmacy! (and Sal!)

Geez, one of the reviewers even liked the fact that it said Spyderco on the blade because he could fool people who didn't know any better. Somebody needs to flip the lightswitch so all those roaches will scatter.

I was surprised to read of people on the site selling the knife that knew who Spyderco was but didn't appear to think twice about their purchase. I can't picture myself knowingly buying a knock-off of Spyderco. Really with the Byrd knives out it's worth paying an extra 10 or 15$ to get something that isn't going to fall apart or have serious safety issues with the lock.

Wow, thats really sleazy. Easy to tell from the clip and latch right away, but only if you know. Printing Spyderco on it SUCKS.

I'm intrigued that it looks like they put the pocket clip on the safe handle... Isn't that kinda backwards? What are you supposed to hold onto? Hm...

Yep they've got another one thats an exact copy of Cold Steels Urban Pal they even copied the box. Sad thing is somebody will buy one at a flea market and think they got the real deal then when it breaks they'll think Spyderco should fix/replace it for them.

Guys, you get what you pay for. if anybody out there on DX doesn't realize its a knock-of, screw 'em. I got one for laughs, and suprisingly its held up well so far. Unfortunately, I was unable to purchase a Spyderfly before they were recalled/discont/whatever, so naturally this caught my eye. Sure it ain't as good as the real thing, but for a CCC bali fan, its not bad.

Just good old illegal competition. heh....

i agree with sal these companies should have to go through the same things spyderco did when they imported parts for the balis.

This is a copy made in China.
I have seen this knife being sold in Asia many times.
Does get sold on the streets for about 5 Euro.
