440-C: High-quality stainless steel made in the United States, containing up to 16-18% chromium. Originally used in surgical tools and shipbuilding industry, it has excellent corrosion resistance and strong toughness. Now it is more widely used in hand knives and high quality factory knives. Carbon content is about 1% (440 series are classified as A, B, C and F; C and F classes have the highest carbon content, while A classes have fewer. The hardness of HRc58 can be reached after ripening.
