Does anyone who uses the Auber ramp/soak PID have a plain English program that they'd be willing to share?

I'm having some issues getting it work properly. It's not reaching the set temp before the countdown timer starts and then after a short while, it stops output to the element.

Thanks in advance!

Alright, I figured it out. The Auberins PID is time priority rather than temperature priority. It was running out of time before hitting temp. I'm used to Paragon kilns and they get to temp and then start timing.

What makes it kind of silly is that the tech support person told me that I needed to set the time to 1 minute to make it ramp as quickly as possible, then turned around and told me that the PID is time priority.

I am just learning the ins and outs of mine, and I have been setting the soak time on the PID longer than how long I am gonna keep the blade in, and set an extra step for the same temp for a few min so the kiln does not ramp up or turn off the coils depending on what I have on the steps after what I am doing at the time.

My problem was I programmed a run for temper @400, and at the tail end of my time the kiln started ramping up to the next step, I caught it @525. I forgot to add one step after the soak time so it does not start moving when your time for that step runs out. Make sense? Then again too I might be doing it wrong.:D

Here is a question, my bad if it may seem stupid, but are you setting a step for the ramp up, then a step for the soak?

Yeah, if you're gonna not change your program, you'd be better off sticking an extra step in there that holds it at 400 for a while. Otherwise, you really need to watch it. If you program in an extra step, you can always skip it if you have a higher temp you're trying to reach.

As for the ramp, yes. I'm ramping it up then letting it hold that temp for a soak. Basically, I ran it up to ~1485 from cold a couple of times and timed how long it took to get there. I added a little extra time for putting the blade in and allowing it to equalize. That's the amount of time that I set the ramp for.

Hope that makes sense.
