Angelcynn is English-race? Did they have such a word as race back then? Cynn sounds like kin. Did they use kin as race maybe?

yes, cynn is 'kin'. I don't think the Anglo-Saxons had a concept of 'race' in the modern sense, 'kin' is sort of like extended family. perhaps angelcynn should be translated as 'English people'.
 
Roughly means "also". Yes, Beo. I should have used "se", but I couldn't remember how/when it was used... Back to Sweets-AS reader for grammar, i guess...been a while since I flexed the OE muscle.

Beo, Have you done more transaltions than just Beowulf? I'm iinterested in translating the old Rune Poems, because I don't think the recent transations do it any cultural justice.


I also wouldn't mind translating the Voluspa from ON copy I got in Iceland to English, but that would be a stretch for me. I do have some buddies in Iceland who wouuld help with the editing, or at least be able to check my work...

THere are tons of manuscripts laying about in Cathedral libraries in England that have not been translated. I'd love to see what that stuff says, before it passes into the subatomic dust of time.
