Bush Operators in A-2
This design is meant to be a bridge between tactical and bushcraft. It incorporates a lot of input from tactical oriented professionals, Law Enforcement, Military, and Special Operations Units, as well as my own thoughts on what a good tactical knife should be. It's a wonderful blend of bushcraft, combat, and personal carry all rolled into one. I'm sure that all my tac brothers and sisters, as well as bushcraft and outdoors fans will dig this knife. A couple of the highlights are:
  • same great convex saber grind
  • a blade length that works well for bushcraft, still a serious duty blade, as well as being more than enough to hit vitals if need be
  • good length of handle to accommodate all hand sizes
  • a handle that has a new kind of ergonomics for me that I think will work wonders for gloved as well as bare hands for every kind of work
  • same great super tough canvas micarta handles with a rough grip to ensure solid purchase
  • a slight guard to aid in safety and also to give a surface to twist against under close quarters combat circumstances
  • the first 1.75 inches of the spine is rounded and the rest is left sharp for scraping, striking, whatever you can think of
steel: 5/32" A-2
OAL: 8.75"
Blade Length: 4"
Handle: canvas micarta
Pins: 1/4" titanium tube
Price: ALL GONE! ($235 with kydex sheath)

Tangos in 1095
These knives are prototypes for a new model. One of these came out with some very shallow pitting from the heat treating process that I couldn't get out without really thinning out the blade so that one is discounted $25. It didn't effect functionality at all, just a slight blemmish. I'm including pictures so you guys can see the blem. By the way, I LOVE this knife!
steel: 5/32" 1095
OAL: approx. 11.5"
Blade Length: approx. 6.5"
Handle: canvas micarta
Pins: 1/4" stainless tube
Price: All SOLD!!!

Priority Shipping (with Delivery Confirmation and Insurance) for each knife is $12 for everywhere in the CONUS. Returning customers DO NOT PAY SHIPPING. It's on me.

For anyone not already on the email list, you should sign up. All you have to do is shoot me an email saying "Put me on the list!" Everyone on the email list gets news and a heads up before every batch goes on sale!

Also, just to remind everyone on the email list, you don't have to wait until knives go on sale to claim them. If you want to get first dibs on a knife for the next batch, just email me and let me know. I'll add one to the next batch for you and you get first dibs on it. Returning customers have the option of buying knives that are already done before they go on sale. All you have to do is email and let me know which one you want and pay for it. To see which knives are in a current batch, just shoot me an email. The only knives that aren't up for grabs to returning customers are ones that people already have dibs on from an email request before that batch was started.

I'll take a Tango and would like pants for it. Could you send me a total with shipping and I will post funds. Thanks Martin. PS since it's my birthday do I get free shipping?

Email sent back to ya bro... and no on the shipping thing. It's not because I don't appreciate the bidness or I don't love you. It's just because it costs money. Repeat customers don't pay shipping though. So, if you buy something else, no more paying shipping. That's gotta make you feel better, right?

Not a deal breaker on the shipping, but next time shipping is on you. Great designs and am looking forward to additional product from you. PP has been sent and can I get on your Email list? Thanks Martin.

Got the payment and added you to the list. Thanks brother!

What happened to your Hello Kitty bandaid?

Mr. Fletcher, I have a quick question for ya'. Would you ever do a Hatchula in A2 (unless you think O1 is a better choice for heavy camp use...I'm not overly familiar with O1) with a 7 inch blade, and if so what would be the cost? Just curious.

I take a Delta Foxtrot in natural micarta with a sheath. Send the payment info and I'll have The funds on the way.

I have a Hatchula and to make one that big would be hard to carry due to weight. The A2 steel would add only rust resistance.I have split a log three inches and the knife was still shaving sharp with 01.
Thanks,
Michael

Michael hit the nail on the head. The only real advantages to using A-2 is the corrosion resistance and you can get slightly better edge holding ability. The difference in Rockwell hardness between the O-1 and the A-2 the way I do the heat treat is only 1. The O-1 comes out at 60RC and the A-2 is 61RC. It's easy to take A-2 way harder, but I wanted the corrosion resistance more than anything so I purposely didn't run it out to full hardness. I wanted it to still be relatively easy to sharpen and avoid chipping. As far as the size, 7" would be pretty huge. The current blade length on those is 5.5" and it's a hefty blade. It's certainly something i could consider though. If you wanted one in A-2 with a 7" blade, canvas micarta scales and stainless tube pins, you'd be looking at about $270. This price doesn't include a sheath or shipping. Personally, I wouldn't opt for the A-2 unless you are in an area with a high salty humidity in the air. O-1 makes a perfectly fine camp knife and a little rust or patina never hurt anybody. a 7"er in O-1 would run you about $240.

What? No available Ulysses'?;)

[Love that design.]

It's definitely going to be a little while before I do more of those. Those things are for damn sure a labor of love. You have to really really want to make one to not lose steam halfway through the process. lol

Exactly as I imagined.:)

Rest assured, that design has plenty of admirers in the "Great Out Here.":D

Mr. Fletcher, thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I've liked the Hatchula design since the first time I saw it, but I've always liked bigger knives (blades 6 inches and up). I'm not worried about rust at all, I just have never owned a knife made of O1 so I personally don't have first hand knowledge of its performance capabilities (heavy camp use). Your price is VERY reasonable! What would you estimate the weight of a 7 inch bladed Hatchula to be? I'm a pretty big guy (6 feet, 240 lbs), so I'm not too worried about it.

Once again, thanks!

Honestly I have no idea off the top of my head, I'll have to break out a scale on Monday and see what a regular Hatchula weighs in at. I'll get back to you on that one.
