August BOTM

Just this morning I gave away my 112 slim pro.

It's a user, so I'll eventually just get another.

Nice knife tho. I think I prefer the black.....

I just saw the email today.
Nice knife, but far above my paygrade.
I believe I'll have to pass.
I'm not sure if I'd like the skinny handle, anyway, and I detest/loathe pocket clips.

Bought one yesterday. I'm a 110 guy, but I like the slim 112 with clip for pocket carry. I also like the thumb stud. I plan on using this one, but wonder how many people here buy the BOTM to sell or invest? Is it stupid of me to use a BOTM?

The 112 Pro Slim I use as an every day carry is easily one of my favorite knives. No way am I passing this one up. I may use it, it may collect dust. Either way, I like the looks of it. I just hope Buck doesn't go to producing these BOTMs in their normal lineup. I buy most of them due to the limited availability and unique style.

I've used my Black 112 Slim quite a bit this year..but I have wanted to really try S30V or S35VN. I've had one of my 112 buildout's in my hand (one of 64?) but put it back as I just couldn't do lt lol! But this one I will take out of the box and put it in my pocket. Funny thing is I will use one of my really fancy 112's once in a while, especially on stage, but I couldn't use one of the rare buildout's for every day use..

This one is not sold out yet - 56 still in stock this morning. Not surprising given that you can get the same knife configuration, except with black G-10 handles from multiple sources for $30 less.

That’s what I was thinking. The blue g10 is nice but I don’t see the reason for such a big increase in price except for a collector who has to have one. Is colored g10 really that more expensive to produce? I can understand $5-10 more for special colors but $30 ???

G10 isn't what most people call plastic. Price any other USA made g10 s30v folder. I'd say the Buck is cheaper even if this limited run is selling at full msrp.

I didn't say plastic.

I said plasticky.......meaning resembling plastic.

I like wood, brass and steel. It's a personal preference thing.

:)

G10 is closer to Micarta than plastic.
I've been planning to buy a 112 slim pro or slim pro plus and I like blue. I have a 112 slim select that's blue. I'd like this one, but like others have said, a $30 premium over the same knife in black seems steep. Then there's the C&C one with S35n steel for $20 less.

Yes G10 is very durable, I have a vantage pro that was run over by a truck/ trailer in a gravel driveway, dropped on to moving machinery and launched across the building bouncing off walls and everything else and not hardly a mark on the knife and still just as good as new.

I just can’t understand why color adds that much to the cost on a comparable knife with all the same exact materials and specs with the only difference being the color. As I’ve shopped for handle materials I don’t see that kind of markup for various colors versus black or any other base color. The only consideration I can think of is collectibles. I’d like to see the working knives that get used have some more visible colors and textures on the upgraded more durable handles along with the upgrade steel blades. I’d think that would make more sense than them being in a display case or a dark storage drawer. I guess I’m funny that way. Lol
